Character Design
Every great children’s book begins with a great story. It’s the illustrator’s job to visualize that story, often beginning with the main character. With Daisy, the goal was to create a simple, appealing, and distinct cow character easy on the eyes but with a bit of whimsy.
Storyboard
Once the character designs are finalized, it’s time to start creating the book’s pictures! This storyboard phase allows the illustrator and author to quickly visualize and iterate to bring the story to life, seeing how each spread leads into the other and carries the story along.
Production
The storyboards are turned into full color illustrations and the text is designed and put in place. The book is ready to be sent to the printer!
